What a joy it is to be working for you all these past
two weeks! As many of you may know, my name is
Chloe Batara, the new Communications Specialist
for the parishes. Some of you might be wondering
what the Communications Specialist means. It’s okay, I’m still learning what it means, too! Essentially, my job is to develop and oversee strategies to better communicate not only parish events and messages, but also to strengthen the mission of our community, both as individual parishes and as a tri-parish community. I wear many hats, including social media management (be sure to follow @sanduskycatholic, our new Instagram account!), graphic design, desktop publishing, web design, and photography. I am currently working on redesigning our bulletin, which should be finished soon! My next big project is redesigning our landing page and three parish websites, with the goal of designing a more user-friendly, engaging and beautiful resource for parishioners, staff and visitors.
Now, a quick introduction. I grew up in Seattle, just 17 minutes from downtown. I have an older sister, Breanne, who is pursuing a career as a museum curator in San Francisco. My parents still live in Seattle — an empty nest without their two daughters! I graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville this past May with a bachelor of arts in communication arts, concentrating in multimedia, and a minor in theology. My previous experience includes: media intern for CatholicMom.com; virtual assistant for marriage and family life speaker and consultant, Dr. Sarah Bartel; social media coordinator for Ignite Your Torch NW, a high school youth conference; and social media manager and web editor for my school’s student newspaper. This year, I have dabbled in freelancing for graphic and logo design and got to design marketing materials for the first Humanae Vitae-centered conference held in the Archdiocese of Seattle.
Some more random fun facts:
– I love the Carmelite religious order and spirituality.
– I’ve traveled to France, Spain, Portugal, and the Philippines, and I plan to travel more.
– I like to play sports and hike.
– I’ve driven up an active volcano in the Philippines with my sister, two SOLT sisters and a SOLT priest… It sounds like a good start to a joke, right?
I want to give a big thanks to everyone for the prayers and support that I received so far. Your warm welcome has made my transition smooth as I begin to call Sandusky home. I look forward to meeting and getting to know more of you! Please don’t hesitate to come up to me if you want to talk or have any questions! I’d love to know more about Sandusky and new Ohio terminology! I will continue to keep the parishioners of Holy Angels, Saint Mary’s, and Sts. Peter and Paul in my prayers. Please pray for me as I serve you in this capacity.
In His Most Sacred Heart,
