Father Dave Nuss was ordained to the priesthood on June 12, 1993, and has served as Pastor of St. Mary's Parish since July 1, 2009. Originally from Wisconsin, Father Dave is a spirited fan and stockholder of the Green Bay Packers, reveling joyously in the great Titletown football traditions of his youth. He is a graduate of Marquette University (1988), Mt. St. Mary’s Seminary (1993) and The Catholic University of America (2000). In addition to his having been the vocation director for the Diocese of Toledo, Father Dave also has served as a priest on special assignments in Archdiocese of Washington (DC) and the Archdiocese of Cologne (Germany).

Father Jason Kahle was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Toledo on May 30, 2009. His first assignment is to St. Mary’s Parish (where he served as Seminarian Intern from September 2006 to August 2007) as Associate Pastor and Chaplain to Sandusky Central Catholic School.

Father Jason grew up in Kalida, OH. He graduated from The Ohio State University in June 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Industrial Design. From there, he went on to study philosophy and theology at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West in Cincinnati, OH where he graduated from with a Master’s of Divinity in May 2009.

“I am very excited about being back home in St. Mary’s Parish. As Associate Pastor, I hope to assist the pastor in spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ through various means within the parish and thus, bring more people to better know, love, and serve the Lord. As Chaplain to the school, I hope to further educate the youth and help them to gain a better understanding of their faith and develop a deeper relationship with Christ.”

Deacon Jeff Claar has been the Business Manager of St. Mary’s Parish since 1995. He was ordained to the Order of Deacon in May 2006. Deacon Jeff’s ministry responsibilities include Parish administration, assisting at Masses, preaching, teaching, annulments, and marriage and baptism preparation. He presides over or participates in ecclesial events such as weddings, baptisms, funerals, vigil services, Rite of Commital, Reposition, Benediction, Stations, Novenas, ministry training and several Religious Education sponsored activities. Deacon Jeff is also the Director of the Catholic Cemeteries of Sandusky.

Deacon Jeff and his wife Debbie (Veith) were married in 1982. They are the parents of two adult children.

He married Mary Jeane (Hiss) in October of 1985.

Tim began piano studies at the early age of 5 and organ studies at the age of 13. He played trombone in the Sandusky High School band, violin in the SHS orchestra and sang bass in the SHS A Cappella Choir. He is a 1982 graduate of Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree. He is married to Anita (Hartleib) and they have 6 grown children and 4 grandchildren.

Heather and her husband, John, have been married since July, 1998. They have a “very spoiled” Maltese named Sophie. In her spare time, she enjoys teaching piano and guitar.

Brittany Taylor believes with her whole heart in the Life Teen mission of “Leading Teens Closer to Christ.” She grew up in a Life Teen program and is incredibly excited about bringing her love of the Catholic Faith and her experience of Life Teen to the teens of Sandusky. As Executive Director, she is looking forward to watching as the Holy Spirit continues to move within the Sandusky Life Teen (SLT) program.

Kathy DiVita is the Administraitve Assistant and a life-long member of St. Mary's Parish. Kathy's responsibilities include assisting the Pastor and clergy. She also substitutes for the Religious Education classes as needed.

Mark Fitzthum, Property Manager/Maintenance, has been with the parish since August 1996. He is responsible for maintaining the Church, rectory, convent and rental properties and supervising major projects at St. Mary's Parish. He is also a member of the Building and Grounds committee and an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.
